I can't hear you

Check out these mosquito ring tones. I thought this was urban legend, but it is real. My wife can hear a 1k hz higher than I can. I remember in High school science we did a test and I could hear higher than any in my class just shy of 22k Hz now I can barley hear 14k. Maybe I can stop spending all that money on audio gear.

I suck at Video Games

When I was a kid I had Atari 2600. I sucked at that. The 7-11 around the corner had Pac-man, defender, Pole Position, Dragons-lair and whatever that green vector graphics one was called.. Tempest? They all ate my quarters at an alarming rate. In High School I had a Comadore 64, with tons of games all of which I was terrible at. Then I got a Mac. There really aren't any games for for Mac, which I think in a way was a releif. For years I was one of those people who said with mild disdain: "I don't really play video games". But about a year ago I played Guitar Hero at a party and I was hooked. Then came rock band. Which is the greatest video game ever. So now I am back. I have a PS3. I read video game blogs. I can talk authoritatively about  first person verseus third person shooters. But here is the thing. I still suck.

Lately I have been playing a lot of Team Fortress 2. Which is great. But here is the thing, its on line only. You have to play against other people on-line. And they are all better than me. Recently I started playing with a group of guys who I met in an online forum. Theses are hard core players. They are a Clan. (who the hell came up with the idea of calling anything a clan in 2008? why not just name your kid Adolph). I didn't really want to join a clan, but it's a game that takes a lot of team strategy to win, and it is hard to develop a strategy in a random pick up game. So eventually these guys let me in, even though I suck (though not as bad as I used to) and now I am in a clan. Seriously. So now that I am in I get to read the private forum where they were deciding weather or not to vouch for me. Here is my favorite:

that wilsan (me) guy is horrible . I was playing pyro with no flamethrower or shotgun ammo  . He was a soldier and he shot at me at least 10 times and  he never hit me . I just ran towards him with my axe and killed him , that shouldn't happen.

So it is official, I suck at video games. The iternets say so!

Akihabara

Just in case any one reads the news stories about the crazy guy in Japan who stabbed 7 people in Akihabara and thought "I wonder if Will was there"? of course I was. I didn't see the incident, I was quietly CD shopping a bout a block away. It turned in to huge scene with several blocks cordoned off, but details where hard to come by. I didn't find out what actually happened until I got back to my Hotel.

I'm back

Sorry I have not updated in a while. I have been Busy. I got Married and  I think that is a pretty god excuse to slack off writing a blog no one reads. also I Went to Aruba (great honeymoon spot) and have been fighting a fairly unhealthy Team Fortress 2 addiction. I am now in Japan so I have a little more free time on my hands. Although much of that time has been taken up working, eating, sleeping and experimenting with the physics of mochi (using the very cool  demo  of  O.E Cake).

So I apologize for not blogging, but there seem to be millions of others out there who have picking up my slack. I highly recommend this guy in particular.
